Professor Naughton skipped his mindful meditation session the evening colleagues suspect he turned jaded.
After twenty-six years, Professor Arnold Naughton, Doctor of Zen Buddhism, broke what may be the longest streak of teaching without jadedness.
Dr. Naughton said something “felt funny” in the middle of a lecture on spiritual openness when he stopped to tell sophomore Mindy Kalowski to stop texting. Later in the lecture, Naughton said he felt his cheek twitch when a student opened a laptop and several other students giggled at whatever they saw on the screen.
Later that afternoon Naughton’s colleagues reported that he had posted a Twitter update saying “Kids just aren’t as polite as they used to be.”
